Tyson Student Food Drive
Tyson Foods, Inc. and Feeding America have chosen Mountaineer Food Bank to be one of six food banks in the country to start the Student Food Drive in West Virginia. Tyson has generously provided Mountaineer Food Bank with a startup grant for the drive. Tyson will also donate a truckload of fresh protein this fall.
The Student Food Drive is unlike any other food drive we have done before. High schools through out the area are invited to compete against one another to see who can raise the most food during a six week period. The drive starts with a Kick Off Party on September 10, which will include gifts, ice cream, snacks, and much more for the kids and advisors. During the six weeks, students must come up with their own ways to raise food for the hungry.
At the end of the drive, a awards party will be held to celebrate the school's accomplishments. The high schools that collect the top three amounts will be awarded monetary gifts that can be used for school activities.
